ADA Program Accessibility Plan
In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), Kauluwela Elementary School is committed to ensuring that individuals with disabilities are not denied the opportunity to participate in and benefit from any service, program or activity offered by the school. Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to participate in and benefit from the many wonderful events at our school. School administration and staff wish to assist in making every event a memorable experience for all who choose to participate.
ACCESS TO SERVICES, PROGRAMS, AND ACTIVITIES
Kauluwela Elementary School will make reasonable modifications to its policies, practices and procedures when the modifications are necessary to ensure services and activities provided by the school are readily accessible to individuals with disabilities. In choosing to ensure that services and activities are readily accessible, the school will give priority consideration to those methods that will provide an integrated setting appropriate to the needs of the individual(s) with disabilities.
NOTICE OF ADA ACCOMMODATION
1. Notice of Request for Accommodations
Kauluwela Elementary School will provide notice of availability of ADA access and reasonable modifications in event registrations and school activity announcements. This notice will include the International Symbol of Accessibility, language concerning ADA access and reasonable modifications and direct individuals with disabilities to the appropriate office where one can request for a modification.
2. Signage
Kauluwela Elementary School will work toward providing appropriate signage at its facilities, directing users to an accessible entrance or to a location at which one can obtain information about accessible facilities.
FACILITIES ACCESS
Kauluwela Elementary School has elected to make a good faith and reasonable attempts to upgrade facilities for barrier removal in line with DOE facilities Branch's priority list.
